ANNA, Ill. -- Maurice D. "Metz" Metzger, 83, of Anna died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at Union County Hospital.

He was born Aug. 3, 1917, in Anna, son of Arthur and Mabel DuRall Metzger. He and Charlotte Leon Phillips were married Aug. 14, 1954, in Anna.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Carolyn Lemaster of Granite City, Ill., Peggy Williams of Lake Zurich, Ill., Virginia Metzger of Anna; two sons, Victor Metzger of Anna; James Metzger of Peach Tree City, Ga.; a brother, Don Lohan of Elmhurst, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister and a granddaughter.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 5-8 p.m. Thursday.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church, with Dr. Rick Hertenstein officiating. Burial will be in Anna Cemetery, with military honors conducted by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455.
