Dale Albert Phillips, 78, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, at Missouri Veterans Home. He was born Oct. 16, 1922, at Swinton, Mo., son of Albert Dale and Anna Belle Moore Phillips. He and Betty Louise Seabaugh were married Aug. 16, 1945, in Seekonk, Mass. She died Dec. 2, 1997...

Dale Albert Phillips, 78, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, at Missouri Veterans Home.

He was born Oct. 16, 1922, at Swinton, Mo., son of Albert Dale and Anna Belle Moore Phillips. He and Betty Louise Seabaugh were married Aug. 16, 1945, in Seekonk, Mass. She died Dec. 2, 1997.

Phillips lived in Cape Girardeau most of his life. He worked at Marquette Cement 32 years. He was a member of Maple United Methodist Church and VFW Post 3838.

He served in the U.S. Navy with the 62nd Battalion Seabees from October 1942 to October 1945 during World War II. He was a machinist mate 3rd Class, and received the Battle Star and Ribbon.

Survivors include a son, Michael Albert Phillips of Jefferson City, Mo.; a daughter, Karen Louise Rhyne of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Augusta Aubuchon of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Otis Phillips of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and two sisters.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. Friday.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the chapel. The Rev. Ernest Jordan will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery at Bloomfield, Mo., with graveside rites by VFW Post 3838.
