JONESBORO, Ill. -- Millard Franklin Aldridge, 87, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at Wentzville Park Care Center in Wentzville, Mo.

He was born Aug. 3, 1913, at Wolf Lake, Ill., son of Thomas L. and Anna Hale Aldridge. He and Lela Louisa Tripp were married July 8, 1948. She preceded him in death.

Aldridge had been an engineer on inland marine waterways, and a corrections officer with Illinois Department of Corrections. He had been a volunteer at the VA Hospital in Marion, Ill. He was a member of First Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Anna, Ill., Masonic Lodge, and Retired Seniors Volunteer Program.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

Survivors include two sons, Arvel Aldridge of New Melle, Mo., Michael Aldridge of Smyrna, Tenn.; two sisters, Kathleen Davis of Jonesboro, Clara Hellman of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a brother, Charles Aldridge of Wolf Lake; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at Hileman and Parr Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Steve Wilkinson officiating. Burial will be in Walker Hill Cemetery at Grand Tower, Ill., with military rites by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455 in Anna.
