BELL CITY, Mo. -- Mary Francis "Mollie" Lewis, 93, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, in Visalia, Calif. She was born May 25, 1907, at Bell City, daughter of John Luther and Ida L. Macke Wallace. She and Russell Bogan Lewis were married Dec. 4, 1931. He died Oct. 2, 1949...

BELL CITY, Mo. -- Mary Francis "Mollie" Lewis, 93, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, in Visalia, Calif.

She was born May 25, 1907, at Bell City, daughter of John Luther and Ida L. Macke Wallace. She and Russell Bogan Lewis were married Dec. 4, 1931. He died Oct. 2, 1949.

Lewis was a graduate of Washington University. She taught school in St. Louis County 23 years, retiring in 1972.

She moved to Springfield, Mo., in 1987 and was a member of King's Way United Methodist Church. She moved to Visalia in 1992, where she attended Visalia United Methodist Church.

Survivors include three sons, John Lewis of Springfield, Claude Lewis of Raleigh, N.C., David Lewis of Visalia; five grandchildren, Russ and Drew Lewis of Springfield, Scott Lewis of Winston-Salem, N.C., Ted and Kate Lewis of Visalia; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Bell City.

Following the service, the family will receive friends at Bell City United Methodist Church.

Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home at Bloomfield, Mo., is in charge of arrangements.
