CAIRO, Ill. -- Donald Edward Woodson, 63, of Cairo died Friday, March 30, 2001, at his residence.

He was born Oct. 18, 1937, at Cairo, son of Willie and Florida Winters Woodson. He and Barbara Henderson were married.

Woodson had worked as a construction laborer, and was a member of Local 773 for 10 years.

Survivors include his wife; six sons, Dale Woodson of Aurora, Ill., David Woodson of Hanover Park, Ill., Donald LaMarr Woodson of Cairo, Donald Merritt of Milwaukee, Wis., Donald Edward Woodson Jr. of Chicago and Ronald Nelson of Atlanta, Ga.; four daughters, Sarai Hollis of Cairo, Andre Evans and Demetrius Woodson, both of Chicago, and Donette Woodson of Texas; four stepsons, Umoja Hollis and Korey Hollis, both of Atlanta, Eric Hollis of St. Louis and Willie Hollis of Indianapolis, Ind.; two stepdaughters, Marissa Hulse of Norfolk, Va., and Melissa Gantt of Japan; four brothers, William Woodson of Mounds, Ill., Floyd Woodson of Grand Chain, Ill., Frederick Woodson of Cathedral City, Calif., and Jerry Woodson of Oceanside, Calif.; seven sisters, Crystal Whitaker of Cairo, Rose Reagins of Banning, Calif., Doris Casey of Beaumont, Calif., Charlette Farmer of Villa Ridge, Ill., Phyllis Bournes, Valantha Scurry and Freida Martinez, all three of Oceanside; 23 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Friends may call Saturday from 11 a.m. until the service at the Holy City Church of God in Christ in Cairo.

Funeral will be at noon Saturday at the church. The Rev. Grady G. Johnson will officiate, with burial in the Spencer Heights Memorial Park Cemetery in Mounds.

Algee Memorial Chapel of Cairo is in charge of arrangements.
