BELL CITY, Mo. -- Charles W. Hess, 71, of Bell City died Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at his home after an extended illness.

He was born Nov. 3, 1929, at Painton, Mo., the son of Earl and Blanche Dean Hess. He married Doris Abner on Aug. 15, 1949, at Bloomfield. She survives.

He retired in 1991 after 25 years at Hunter Engineering Co. in St. Louis. He was a member of the Bell City United Methodist Church and the Bell City Masonic Lodge.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He also is survived by three daughters, Dottie Nelson of Wright City, Mo., Mary Garza of Inverness, Fla., and Kathy Molos of St. Peters, Mo.; two sisters, Eunice Vancil of Collinsville, Ill., and Frances Eberdhart of Belleville, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance, Mo. Masonic rites are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. today.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel, with the Revs. Charles Garza and Linda Zych officiating.

Burial will be at Williams Cemetery in Perkins, Mo.
