BERNIECE POOLE

EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- Funeral for Berniece Poole will be held at 11 a.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Greg McCord will officiate. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery.

Poole, 70, died Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.

She was born July 15, 1930, in East Prairie, daughter of Virgil and Katie Ivie Thornton. She and Paul James Poole were married July 15, 1950.

Poole lived in East Prairie several years. She was a teacher at East Prairie, Dorena, Dogwood and Pultight schools, and also taught in the state of Indiana. She had lived in Bonne Terre the past four years, and was a member of Cantwell Baptist Church in Desloge, Mo.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Anthony Poole of Conover, N.C.; two daughters, Paulette Maynard of Bonne Terre, Kim Hill of Holly Springs, Miss.; a brother, Bill Thornton of Murray, Ky.; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, and a brother.
