COBDEN, Ill. -- August F. "Skip" Comte, 57, of Cobden died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Marion, Ill.

He was born Sept. 3, 1943, in Murphysboro, Ill., son of Eugene Alvis and Lillian Mileur Comte. He and Linda L. Braggs were married Feb. 15, 1997, in Cobden.

Comte was a veteran of the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Doug Comte of Elkville, Ill.; two stepdaughters, Felicia McDaniel of Brownsville, Texas, Tonya Thompson of Jonesboro, Ga.; and four stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden after 6 p.m. Friday.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ken Rushing officiating. Burial will be in Elkville Cemetery, with military honors by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455 of Anna.
