ESSEX, Mo. -- Edith Cummings, 73, of Essex died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at her home. She was born Nov. 21, 1927, at St. Louis, Mo., daughter of James and Cora Marie Young. She was married to James Cummings. He died June 15, 1982. Cummings was a farmer and homemaker. She moved from St. Louis to Essex in 1985 and was a member of the New. ESSEX, Mo. -- Edith Cummings, 73, of Essex died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at her home.

She was born Nov. 21, 1927, at St. Louis, Mo., daughter of James and Cora Marie Young. She was married to James Cummings. He died June 15, 1982.

Cummings was a farmer and homemaker. She moved from St. Louis to Essex in 1985 and was a member of the New. Mount Zion Baptist Church near Essex.

Survivors include a son, Walter Bailey of St. Louis, and a sister, Rita Young of St. Louis.

Friends may call from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Watkins & Sons Funeral Home at Dexter, Mo.

Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Simmons Cemetery at Catron, Mo. The Rev. Floyd Wade will officiate.
