SIKESTON, Mo. -- Russell Alberts, 76, of Sikeston died Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, at his home, following an extended illness.
He was born Dec. 16, 1924, in Newark, N.J., son of Joseph and Teresa Costanzo Alberts. He and Theresa VanDette were married Aug. 19, 1950, in LaChine, Quebec, Canada.
Alberts was a graduate of the University of Toronto, and received a master's degree from Santa Clara University in California.
He was a mechanical engineer at Noranda Aluminum 17 years. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Association of Mechanical Engineers, and Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, David Alberts of Memphis, Tenn., Chris Alberts of Sikeston; a daughter, Michelle Glaus of Sikeston; two brothers, Vincent Alberts of Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada, Joe Alberts of Aurora, Ontario, Canada; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son.
Funeral Mass will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Church, with the Rev. Stephen Schneider officiating.
