PARMA, Mo. -- Funeral for Carter Nelson Davis of Parma will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Parma. Cecil Keller will officiate. Burial will be in Rosewood Cemetery at Malden, Mo.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. today.

Davis, 80, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, at his home.

He was born Feb. 26, 1921, at Doniphan, Mo., son of Ben and Jane Stovall Davis. He and Beatrice Myrick were married April 26, 1944, in Piggott, Ark. She died April 30, 2001.

Davis had been a mechanic at Loveless Garage and at Mahan Gin in Parma. He was a member of Parma General Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Carter Davis Jr. of Port Wentworth, Ga., Harry Davis of Olive Branch, Miss.; four daughters, Joyce Julian of Orlando, Fla., Charlotte Whalen of Bloomfield, Mo., Patricia Goin of Jackson, Mo., Janet Heise of Malden; two brothers, Lester Davis of LaForge, Mo., Lloyd Davis of Arnold, Mo.; a sister, Melba Bonds of Morehouse, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
