CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Howard Dixon, 61, of Chicago died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, in an automobile accident.
He was born May 18, 1940, near Charleston, son of Ozark and Essie Martin Dixon. He and Rosemary Norwood were married Dec. 28, 1991.
Dixon was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Charleston and Kennedy-King College in Chicago.
He retired in 2000 from the Chicago Transit Authority. He was a member and usher at Soul Reviving Baptist Church.
Dixon served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gerald Dixon of Baltimore, Md., Howon Dixon of Chicago; three brothers, William Dixon of Charleston, Sammie Dixon of Saginaw, Mich., Robert Dixon of Baltimore; four sisters, Callie Rivers and Dorothy Smith of Charleston, Rosemary Smith of Chicago, Pauline Silverado of Danville, Ill.; and an adopted sister, Henrene Valdez of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at Sparks Funeral Home after 11 a.m. Thursday.
Graveside service will be at noon Thursday at Oak Grove Cemetery.
