VILLA RIDGE, Ill. -- William Harley Apple, 85, of Villa Ridge died Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, in Villa Ridge.

He was born Sept. 26, 1915, in Union County, Ill., son of John H. and Flora Hileman Apple. He and Blanche Dillon were married in 1960 in Murphysboro, Ill. She died March 11, 1984.

Formerly of Anna, Ill., Apple was a retired farmer. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Odd Fellows Lodge in Jonesboro, Ill.

Survivors include stepchildren, Sarah "Tut" Moore of Channahon, Ill., Mary "Murk" Cripps of Jonesboro, Don Hileman of East Cape Girardeau, Ill., Dick Hileman of Gardner, Ill., Dane Hileman of Anna; a sister, Ina Shipman of Rock Falls, Ill.; two brothers, James and Lester Apple of Rock Falls.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna after 6 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. F.M. Speakman officiating. Burial will be in Christian Chapel Cemetery.
