JEWEL KERBY

SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- Jewel Maxine Kerby, 68, of Scott City died Sunday, July 23, 2000, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Nov. 15, 1931, in Piggott, Ark., daughter of Thomas F. and Bertha J. Wyatt Hodgkiss. She and Otto Joe Kerby were married Nov. 15, 1950, at Fornfelt, Mo. He died Nov. 20, 1969.

Kerby had been a plant assigner with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Scott City.

Survivors include two sons, Joe Kerby of Paragould, Ark., Steve Kerby of Benton, Mo.; a daughter, Juanita Felty of Jackson, Mo.; her mother, Bertha Mason of Hardy, Ark.; and four sisters, Nellie Crow of Irving, Texas, Donna Tate and Mary Clark of Hardy, and Faye Gilliam of Seagoville, Texas.

Also surviving are 10 brothers, Ken and Jesse Hodgkiss of Irving, Ronnie Hodgkiss of Balch Springs, Texas, Gene Hodgkiss of West Palm Beach, Fla., Thomas Hodgkiss and James Mason of Jonesboro, Ark., David Wallace of Heber Springs, Ark., Sonny Benson of Sikeston, Mo., Donald Benson of Sequatchie, Tenn., Gary Hodgkiss of Ionia, Mich.; and seven grandchildren.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City, Mo., from 5-8 p.m. today.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Lightner Cemetery in Scott City. The Rev. Terry Eades will officiate.
