ROY HORNBERGER

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Roy P. Hornberger, 56, of Perryville died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug. 3, 1944, in Perry County, Mo., son of Hubert C. and Elta Nelson Hornberger. He and Mary A. Cairns were married July 13, 1973.

Hornberger was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. His military service awards include a Vietnam Service medal with two bronze service stars, a National Defense Service medal, a Republic of Vietnam Campaign medal, a Bronze Star with a "V" device, a Purple Heart with one oak leaf cluster, a Combat Infantryman Badge and Expert Rifle.

He was a member of the VFW, the DAV and the Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Lori Kaempfe of Perryville; two sons, Michael Hornberger and Mark Hornberger, both of Perryville; one sister, Ruth Hayden of Perryville; and one grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 6:30-8:30 a.m. today at Young and Sons Chapel in Perryville.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Craig Otto officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
