MILDRED F. CARNEY

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Mildred F. Carney, 87, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at Perry County Nursing Home in Perryville.

She was born on March 14, 1913, on Kaskaskia Island, Ill., daughter of Francis J. and Winifred E. Davis Gendron.

She married Joseph H. Lawrence. He died in 1958. She then married Garva A. Carney on April 28, 1962. He died March 10, 1985.

She had worked at Prince Gardner and was a member of Christ the Savior Catholic Church in Brewer, Mo., and the VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include a son, James Lawrence of St. Louis; a daughter, Norma L. Layton of St. Marys, Mo.; a brother, Joseph R. Gendron of St. Ann, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, a sister and two grandchildren.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. A parish wake service will be held at 6 p.m. Visitation will also be held from 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The rosary will be recited at 9 a.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Savior Catholic Church in Brewer, with the Rev. Felipe Martinez officiating.

Burial will be in St. Marys Cemetery.
