MCCLURE, Ill. -- Robert Eugene "Cherry Top" Colyer, 67, of McClure died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at the Ratliff Care Center.

He was born Sept. 24, 1933, in McClure, the son of Mose and Dona Johnson Colyer. He married Carol L. McKinney on April 20, 1957, at Corinth, Miss. She survives.

He was a diesel electrician with Missouri-Pacific Railroad and then Union Pacific Railroad for 38 years. He lived in Wood River, Ill., and North Little Rock, Ark., before retiring in 1994 and moving back to McClure.

He served in the U.S. Air Force in Korea. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in North Little Rock, the American Legion in McClure and was past president of IBEW Local 633 in St. Louis.

He also is survived by two sons, Robert Colyer Jr. of Greenville, Mo., and David M. Colyer of Brighton, Ill.; a daughter, Kimberly Ann Fraser of East Alton, Ill.; two brothers, William "Witz" Colyer of McClure and Wilburn Colyer of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Wilma Matlock, Vera Hart and Ruth Anderson, all of McClure; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Ford & Sons Sprigg Street Funeral home.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Raymond Oxford and Mark Boyd officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted by VFW Post 3838 of Cape Girardeau.

Burial will be at Lindsey Cemetery in McClure.
