CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Amos W. Hargrave, 87, formerly of Charleston, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Bath, N.Y. He was born June 30, 1913, at Huntersville, Mo., son of Elia and Maud Dever Hargrave. He and Leta Colleen Converse were married Sept. 2, 1935. She died Dec. 27, 1999...

CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Amos W. Hargrave, 87, formerly of Charleston, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Bath, N.Y.

He was born June 30, 1913, at Huntersville, Mo., son of Elia and Maud Dever Hargrave. He and Leta Colleen Converse were married Sept. 2, 1935. She died Dec. 27, 1999.

Hargrave was a chief engineer for various television and radio stations in Missouri. After retiring he and his wife moved to Charleston. After her death he moved to Avoca, N.Y., to reside with his daughter.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Charleston. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include a son, Amos Hargrave of Kansas City; a daughter, Nana Carrillo of Avoca; and two grandchildren.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at IOOF Cemetery. The Rev. Ed Hankinson will officiate.

McMikle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
