SIKESTON, Mo. -- Funeral for Mabel Marie Gooch, 90, of Sikeston, will be held at 3 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Sikeston. The Rev. Tom Geers will officiate. Visitation will be after 1 p.m. today at the church.

Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.

Gooch died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston.

She was born Dec. 4, 1910, in Holcomb, Mo., daughter of Mack and Bertha Fox Thompson.

She married William Lloyd Gooch on Oct. 4, 1943. He died Jan. 30, 1998.

She was a homemaker and sold Luzier's Cosmetics. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Gleaner's Sunday School class. She also did private duty nursing and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 37.

Survivors include two sons, Joe W. Gooch and Jim Gooch, both of Sikeston; two brothers, Arvel Thompson of Campbell, Mo., and Lynn Thompson of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Fern Riley of New Madrid, Mo.; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by seven brothers.

Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
