Grand Chain, Ill. -- Funeral for Ernest Delbert Mayer will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Olmsted. The Revs. Carl Miller and Jim Rivett will officiate.

Burial will be in Concord Cemetery at Olmsted. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Mounds VFW Post 8891.

Visitation was Monday night at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak, who is in charge of arrangements.

Mayer, 70, of Grand Chain, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion.

He was born June 2, 1929, in Pulaski County, Ill., son of Ernest and Bertha Weissborn Mayer. He and Janette Watson were married. She preceded him in death.

He was a retired security guard for Burns Co. and also had worked for Clarks Security Agency. He also was a retired farmer.

He was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Olmsted and the Shawnee Pork Producers Association.

Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Lane of Paducah, Ky., and Linda Chapman of Paoti, Ind.; a son, Michael Mayer of Grand Chain; a sister, Marilyn Turner in Olmsted; and four grandchildren.

His parents also preceded him in death.
