SIKESTON -- Melvin Lee Poley Sr., 68, of Sikeston died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000, at his home.
He was born Jan. 9, 1932, at Parma, son of Robert Williams and Jeanette Burns Poley. He married Mildred Poley, who preceded him in death. He later married Dorothy Hubbard.
Poley had been a self-employed heating and air conditioning contractor. He was a member of the Eagles Aerie.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Robert Poley of Barnhart, Melvin Poley Jr. of St. Louis, William Poley of New Madrid, Pete Roberts of Bismarck; two daughters, Mildred Willoughby of Melbourne, Fla., Jody Poley of St. Louis.
Also surviving are five brothers, James Poley of East Prairie, George Poley of Sikeston, Junior Poley of Arnold, Floyd Poley of Anderson, S.C., Delbert Poley of Steele; five sisters, Beulah Everly of Charleston, Christine Parker and Tillie Hedge of East Prairie, Lola Haydin of Charleston, Peggy Hardin of Sikeston; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, a son and two brothers.
Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Bill Meeks and Bob Burnes officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
