JACKSON -- Alphonse Bernard Knott, 75, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born May 14, 1924, at Cranes Island, Ill., son of Joseph and Stella Griffith Knott. He and Inez Sievers were married Oct. 20, 1951.

Knott was a carpenter with Bob Strack Construction Co., retiring in 1989. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Tom Knott of Jackson; three daughters, Jackie Bollinger, Kathy Touchette and Pattie Schumacher of Jackson; a brother, Arthur Knott of Perryville; a sister, Annie Scheerer of St. Joseph; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 6-8 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church, with Msgr. Edward Eftink officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
