MURPHYSBORO, Ill. -- William Tanner Burnett, 87, of Murphysboro died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at the Rehab and Care Center of Jackson County. He was formerly of Cairo.
He was born May 14, 1912, in LaCenter, Ky., son of William and Annie Tanner Burnett. He and Rosemary Halteman were married June 26, 1935.
Burnett was a retired ironworker. He was a member of First Christian Church in Cairo, and Ironworkers Local 782 in Paducah, Ky.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Carol Nobel of Murphysboro; two sons, Kenneth and Richard Burnett of Murphysboro; two half sisters, Billie Boulton and Kathleen Howle of Paducah; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, two sisters, and a half brother.
Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo after 5 p.m. today, and Wednesday after 9 a.m. at First Christian Church.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Richard Pigg officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park in Murphysboro.
