CHARLESTON -- John Carl "Bud" Pearson, 76, of Charleston died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, in a one-car accident on Highway H north of Miner.
He was born April 19, 1923, in Memphis, Tenn., son of Mack Hugh and Willa Vaughn Pearson. He and Wanda Gaines were married Nov. 19, 1948.
Pearson lived in Mississippi County most of his life, and was employed in law enforcement 25 years. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and VFW Post 4294.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Wanda Williams, Carla Norman and Gale Nicholson of Charleston; three sisters, Inez Shoffner of Kentucky, Hazel Lynch of Springfield, Vivian Schneider of East Prairie; two brothers, Mack Pearson of Phoenix, Ariz., Kenneth Pearson of O'Fallon, Ill.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson and two sisters.
Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The Rev. Bill Summers will officiate. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery, with graveside rites by the Missouri Military Funeral Honors Program.
