JACKSON -- Funeral for Edna E. Philipps of Jackson will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. The Rev. David Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 10:30 a.m. until service time.

Philipps, 92, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Jan. 6, 1908, in St. Louis, daughter of Edward and Bertha Geldmacher Kroeker. She and Elmo W. Philipps were married Oct. 2, 1930. He died Oct. 30, 1988.

Philipps attended school in St. Louis. She worked in the payroll department of Wallace Pencil Co. in St. Louis. The family moved to Jackson in 1942, and she helped her husband work on the farm.

They moved back to St. Louis in 1960. She then worked at Skruggs, Vandervoorts, Barney, and Famous-Barr. Returning to Jackson in 1968, she worked at the former J.B.'s Hobbies and Crafts in Jackson, Dollar General Store in Jackson, and Goodwill Industries Store in Cape Girardeau. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Survivors include three sons, David and William "Bill" Philipps of Jackson, Barrett "Barry" Philipps of St. Louis; two daughters, Joan Webb of Elkton, Md., Judy Otto of Holly Springs, Miss.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters.
