William Eugene "Dan" Hampton, 90, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center. He was born Feb. 9, 1910, at Whitewater, son of Martin and Cora Lape Hampton. He and Hazel Wilson were married Oct. 17, 1935, in Cape Girardeau. She died Aug. 23, 1969...

William Eugene "Dan" Hampton, 90, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 9, 1910, at Whitewater, son of Martin and Cora Lape Hampton. He and Hazel Wilson were married Oct. 17, 1935, in Cape Girardeau. She died Aug. 23, 1969.

Hampton farmed 40 years and was a custodian at Franklin School. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a sister, Wilma Statler of Advance.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-7 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Statler officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery at Jackson.
