REV. WILLIAM DICKEY

SCOTT CITY -- The Rev. William M. Dickey, 81, of Scott City died Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Aug. 15, 1918, at Illmo, son of Harry Alexander and Mary Blakemore Skelly Dickey. He and Alberta Bentley were married April 21, 1947, at Illmo.

Dickey had been a conductor on the Cotton Belt Railroad, was a Methodist minister, and had worked at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.

He was a member of Harold O. Grauel Lodge 672 AF&AM and American Legion Post 63 in Cape Girardeau, VFW Post 6407 in Scott City, and United Transportation Union 512.

Dickey was a sergeant in the U.S. Army Military Police during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, David Dickey of Scott City, Jim Dickey of Glen Allen; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City from 4-8 p.m. today. A Masonic service will be held at 7.

Funeral will be at the chapel at 10 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Luther Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Memorial Cemetery.
