GILBERT BRETZEL

SCOTT CITY -- Gilbert T. Bretzel, 81, of Scott City died Friday, April 7, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Sept. 18, 1918, at Commerce, son of Frederick Thomas and Mollie Adeline Sanders Bretzel. He and Dottie Audrey Green were married Oct. 18, 1941, at Benton.

Bretzel had farmed and also owned and operated a welding and blacksmith shop. He was a member of Eisleben Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sharon Ledure and Pat Hennig of Jackson; a sister, Nina Spain of Warren, Mich.; eight grandchildren, Taborri Bruhl, Kim Bruhl, Heidi Vogtsberger, Juok Bruhl, Christopher Maring, Kevin Maring, Paul Ledure, Jason Ledure; four great-grandchildren, Bailey Ledure, Kendall Ledure, Trent Ledure and Amelia Bruhl.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Jane Bruhl, in 1984; three brothers; and three sisters.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City from 5-8 p.m. Sunday.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the chapel, with Pastor Robert Klein officiating. Burial will be in Bretzel Family Cemetery near Scott City.
