SCOTT CITY -- Alma Welter, 85, of Scott City died Saturday, May 6, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital. She was born Sept. 20, 1914, at New Hamburg, daughter of Mike and Mary Bisher Glaus. She and Zeno Welter were married April 12, 1932, at New Hamburg. He died July 1, 1967...

SCOTT CITY -- Alma Welter, 85, of Scott City died Saturday, May 6, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born Sept. 20, 1914, at New Hamburg, daughter of Mike and Mary Bisher Glaus. She and Zeno Welter were married April 12, 1932, at New Hamburg. He died July 1, 1967.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, had been a cutter with Ralph Edwards Sportswear for over 20 years and was an original member and drummer for the Golden Slippers Band.

Survivors include a son, James F. Welter of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Marian Holder and Lillian Angle, both of Scott City; a half-sister, Rosemary Diebold of Benton; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until funeral time Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church at Scott City. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. today immediately followed by Scott City Knights of Columbus Council 6420 prayers.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. David Coon officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home at Cape Girardeau is in charge of arrangements.
