JONESBORO, Ill. -- Zelma I. Carter, 74, of Anna, Ill., died Friday, July 14, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Mach 6, 1926, in Mill Creek, Ill., daughter of Mike and Edith Hamilton Poole. She and Wayne Carter were married on July 2, 1977, in Jonesboro.

She was a retired employee of the Choate Mental Health Center in Anna, Ill., and was a member of the Anna Moose Lodge and the Ullin Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Bonnie Bigham of Cairo, Ill., and Lydia VanRoekel of Jonesboro; two sons, Oliver Daniels of Dongola, Ill., and Harrell "Buddy" Sharp of Herrin, Ill.; one brother, Homer Poole of Creal Springs, Ill.; one sister, Shirley Sadler of Anna; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at Hileman and Parr Funeral home in Jonesboro.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Lacy Betts and Bill Carter officiating. Interment will be in St. Johns Cemetery.
