Carolyn Louise Brinkle, 59, of St. George Island, Fla., died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000, at Weems Memorial Hospital in Apalachicola, Fla. She was born July 16, 1941, in Little Rock, Ark., daughter of Narvol A. and Dorothy Randol Sr. She and Dr. Lydle F. Brinkle were married Dec. 31, 1961, in Cape Girardeau...

Carolyn Louise Brinkle, 59, of St. George Island, Fla., died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000, at Weems Memorial Hospital in Apalachicola, Fla.

She was born July 16, 1941, in Little Rock, Ark., daughter of Narvol A. and Dorothy Randol Sr. She and Dr. Lydle F. Brinkle were married Dec. 31, 1961, in Cape Girardeau.

Brinkle received a bachelor of science degree in mental health counseling in 1980 and a master of arts in counseling in 1984 from Gannon University.

She was a nurse aide and private duty nurse several years and was a mental health counselor for several agencies in Northwest Pennsylvania. She had been a private duty counselor, and worked as a caseworker and supervisor with American Red Cross 12 years. She was a foster parent with the Juvenile Probation Department of Pennsylvania 12 years.

Brinkle was a member of St. George Island United Methodist Church, was a past president of the United Methodist Women of St. George Island and Eastpoint, Fla., and until recently was spiritual growth coordinator for Tallahassee District of United Methodist Women.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Dale Brinkle of Lakeland, Fla., Bryan Brinkle of Pittsburgh, Pa., Craig Brinkle of Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.; her mother of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Narvol Randol Jr. of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Jane Jackson and Margaret Dement of Cape Girardeau; and a grandson.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. George Island United Methodist Church.

Kelley Funeral Home in Apalachicola is in charge of arrangements.
