SIKESTON, Mo. -- Florence Opal Briggs, 94, of Sikeston died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2000, at Clearview Nursing Center. She was born April 8, 1906, in Jackson, Mo., daughter of Tom and Stella Godwin. She first married Martin L. Pensel. She and Bryant F. Briggs were married in 1943. He died March 4, 1992...

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Florence Opal Briggs, 94, of Sikeston died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2000, at Clearview Nursing Center.

She was born April 8, 1906, in Jackson, Mo., daughter of Tom and Stella Godwin. She first married Martin L. Pensel. She and Bryant F. Briggs were married in 1943. He died March 4, 1992.

Briggs retired from International Shoe Co., then served as craft room supervisor at Heritage House several years.

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Pensel Crites of Sikeston; a brother, Frank Godwin of Jackson; a sister, Daisy Long of Jackson; three grandsons; and a great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by a brother.

Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home after 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Dr. Jim Davis and the Rev. Sandra Schaller officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
