MARBLE HILL -- George Richard Sloan, 79, of Marble Hill died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999, at his home.

He was born Nov. 14, 1919, in Paris, Ill., son of George E. and Lois Dickson Sloan. He and Louise E. Sparks were married March 28, 1942. She died Feb. 6, 1989.

Sloan was a retired tool and die maker. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville, and member of International Association of Machinists.

Survivors include two sons, George Sloan of St. Louis, Richard Sloan of Las Vegas, Nev.; a daughter, Louise Sloan of Patton, two brothers, Robert Sloan of Peoria, Ill., James Sloan of Alton, Ill.; two sisters, Betty Cummins of Greencastle, Ind., Ruth Chady of Canoga Park, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, a brother, and a sister.

Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Patton after 4 p.m. today. A prayer service will be held at 7.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Vincent's Church, with the Rev. Richard Lause officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery at Perryville.
