PARMA -- Funeral for A.B. Parker of Parma will be held at 2 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Parma. The Rev. Ken Yates will officiate, with burial in Parma Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until service time.

Parker, 76, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 1999, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

He was born Dec. 17, 1922, in Parma, son of Willie Elijah and Cordellia Essbella Parker. He and Georgia Mae Elrod were married March 18, 1945, in Piggott, Ark.

Parker was a retired carpenter, and served 16 years as an alderman on the Parma City Board. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Jackie Parker of Parma; a daughter, Verla Landers of Parma; a sister, Anna Vaughn of Parma; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and three great-stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by six brothers.
