BASSILL E. NEWELL

GRASSY -- Bassill E. Newell, 61, of Grassy died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999, at the family home.

He was born Dec. 1, 1937, at Morley, the son of Earl F. and Lottie E. Gibbs Newell.

He worked for many years at the International Hat Company in Lutesville and at the time of his death was employed at the V.I.P. Industries at Marble Hill.

He is survived by his mother of Grassy; two brothers, Jackie G. Newell of Grassy and Norman Newell of Zalma; a sister, Ruby M. Swartz of Oxnard, Calif.; three nephews and a niece.

He was preceded in death by his father, a brother and a sister.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill and after 9 a.m. Monday at the Grassy Friendship General Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Gene Robbins officiating.

Burial will be at the McGee Chapel Cemetery near Glen Allen.
