WILBERT R. LORENZ

SHAWNEETOWN -- Wilbert R. Lorenz, 90, of Shawneetown died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, at The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born July 7, 1908, son of Martin and Bertha Kasten Lorenz. He and Eleonora Dreyer were married May 3, 1931, at Shawneetown. She died Sept. 12, 1989.

Lorenz was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Shawneetown. He was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells and confirmed at Trinity Church. He had farmed in the Shawneetown area most of his life and had retired from the former Jackson Handle Factory.

Survivors include a son, Harold Lorenz of Jackson; three brothers, Ervin, Edgar and Melvin Lorenz, all of Shawneetown; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, daughter, brother, sister and grandson.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Howard Mueller officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
