Funeral for Robert Alphonso Hubbard of Topeka, Kan., will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at The Apostolic United Pentecostal Church in Topeka.

Friends may call today at Penwell-Gabel Highland Chapel in Topeka.

Hubbard, 78, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999, at his home.

He was born Dec. 29, 1920, in Craig County, Okla., son of Fredrick D. and Eva Landrum Hubbard. He and Fern A. Thompson were married March 8, 1941, in Nowata, Okla.

Hubbard attended Coffeyville Community College, and received a bachelor of science degree from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kan.

He was a medical technician at St. Francis Medical Center 36 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Hubbard had lived in Topeka since 1996.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Robert Hubbard of St. Louis, Albert Hubbard of Topeka, Paul Hubbard of San Francisco, Calif.; three daughters, Virginia Hubbard and Vertie Lewis of Chicago, Jocelyn Hubbard of Topeka; a sister, Charlotte Hubbard of Coffeyville; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
