JACKSON - Mr. Kirk Jahn, age 39, a prominent farmer and excavating company proprietor was fatally injured at his home as a result of a heavy equipment accident, Thursday, March 18, 1999. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. JACKSON - Mr. Kirk Jahn, age 39, a prominent farmer and excavating company proprietor was fatally injured at his home as a result of a heavy equipment accident, Thursday, March 18, 1999.

Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson, Monday, March 22, 1999 with Rev. David Johnson officiating and burial in Russel Heights Cemetery.

Kirk was born April 19, 1959 the son of Eldor and Eunice (Haertling) Jahn who survives and resides on the family farm at Jackson.

He married the former Susan Newell July 1, 1978 and she survives.

Kirk and Susan have two children: Scott, age 10 and Kelly, age 7 both at home; three sisters: Deborah Brewer of Collinsville, Ill., Donna Hookham of Palm Habor, Fla. and Cynthia Small of Ocho Rios, Jamacia.

He was preceded by one brother.

He attended the St. Paul Lutheran School of Jackson and graduated from Jackson High School in 1977.

Kirk was very entrepreneurial even at the age of 11 whenever he was leasing farm ground from a friend in Jackson. He and his father worked together in farming and excavation and in 1985 he and Susan started the Jahn Excavating Co. Along with the excavating company he leased and farmed land in Illinois, Dutchtown, Whitewater, Delta, Arbor and Jackson.

He was a former CO-OP Board member, former Farm Bureau president, and former member of the Young Farmers of the Farm Bureau Association, member of the Pork Producers and Soybeans Association.

He was a lifelong member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church and served as Head Usher. He has donated many hours of labor and equipment during the building program now underway at the Lutheran School in Jackson.

Memorials may be given to the St. Paul Lutheran Building (or Expansion) Fund.
