Jerry Carl Couey, 49, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, April 2, 1999, at Grenada Lake Medical Center in Grenada, Miss.
He was born Nov. 19, 1949, in Greenville, Miss., son of Marvin and Virginia Lucille Treadwell Couey. He married Becky Hill May 26, 1989, in Wickliffe, Ky. She survives.
He was a pilot for barge lines on the Mississippi River, a member of Eagles Aerie 3775 and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971.
He had lived in Cape Girardeau for about 10 years and had attended the Assembly of God church.
He also is survived by his father, Marvin Couey of West Frankfort, Ill.; his mother, Lou Couey of Hobe Sound, Fla.; three sons, Stephen Charolla of Clinton, Iowa, Shannon Bozeman of Cartlege, Miss., and Brandon Couey of Arlington, Texas; a daughter, Kristen Couey of Topeka, Kan; a brother, Tommy Couey of Paducah, Ky.; a half brother, Donald Leach of Los Angeles; and a half sister, Lynn Moss of Baton Rouge, La.
He was preceded in death by a son.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Gore Springs Baptist Church in Gore Springs, Miss.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Dr. C.J. Campbell officiating.
Burial will be at the Hobbs Chapel Cemetery.
