METROPOLIS, Ill. -- Funeral for Mabelle Yackel of Metropolis will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak. The Rev. Gary McClellan will officiate. Burial will be in Anderson Cemetery at Boaz.

Friends may call Sunday at the funeral home from noon to 2 p.m.

Yackel, 95, died Monday, April 5, 1999, at Massac Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 1, 1904, in Massac County, daughter of Sam and Dessie Barnett Lippert. She married Adolphus Yackel, who preceded her in death.

Yackel retired as a teacher in the Alton School System. She attended Anderson Congregational Church at Boaz.

Survivors include a sister, Lucille Howe of Beaver Dam, Wis.

She was preceded in death by two brothers.
