ORAN -- Mildred "Mickey" Sturgeon, 76, of Oran died Wednesday, April 7, 1999, at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis.

She was born Dec. 23, 1922, in Terre Haute, Ind., daughter of Almont and Rose Sarah Amrhein Howell. She and Fred L. Sturgeon Jr. were married Oct. 9, 1941.

Sturgeon had been a nurse aide for Dr. Roy Johnson in Ferguson and Dr. Bruce Hookerman in Bridgeton. She was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church and its St. Ann Sodality.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Fred Sturgeon III of Chicago, William Sturgeon of St. Louis; two daughters, Judith Osseck of St. Louis, Carolyn Chrun of St. Peters; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran after 4 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Guardian Angel Church, with the Rev. Lewis Hejna officiating. Burial will be in Friend Cemetery.
