Wilfred Wilhelm Schomberg, 83, of Marthasville died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at his home.

He was born April 13, 1916, at Treloar, Mo., son of Frederick and Hulda Lichtenberg Schomberg.

April 13 was always a special day for Mr. Schomberg.

On April 13, 1930, Mr. Schomberg was confirmed at Immanuel's United Church of Christ in Holstein, Mo.

On April 13, 1932, Mr. Schomberg graduated from high school.

On April 13, 1941, Mr. Schomberg married Ruth Hilda Rottmann at Marthasville, Mo.

Mr. Schomberg was a farmer all his life. He was a member of Immanuel's United Church of Christ and served three terms on the church council. He was also a member of Warren County Farm Bureau.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, David Schomberg and wife, Mary Ruth, of Marthasville, Mo., Donald Schomberg and wife, Lesa, of Marthasville, Mo., Dwayne Schomberg and wife, Caren, of Washington, Mo.; two daughters, Doris Ann Lage and husband, Wally, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Denise Clemens and husband, Kevin, of Foristell, Mo; and 14 grandchildren (including Jeffrey Lage, a freshman at Notre Dame; Jenny Lage, a recent Southeast Missouri State graduate now teaching in St. Louis; Gina Lage of Nashville; and Joe Lage of West Palm Beach, Fla.).He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mildred Roetemeyer; and a granddaughter, Julie Lage.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immanuels United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Darryl Bockting officiating. Burial will be in the Holstein Church Cemetery.

Nieburg-Martin Funeral Home in Warrenton is in charge of arrangements.
