Marie Elizabeth "Betty" Parsons, 92, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, April 18, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
She was born March 9, 1907, in Knoxville, Pa., daughter of John Jacob and Marie Zumbrook Hamel. She and Bruce Leonard Parsons were married May 11, 1934, in Detroit, Mich.
Parsons received a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from the University of Michigan.
She taught elementary school in Saline, Mich., and managed advertising accounts for Valley Chemical Co. of Mt. Pleasant, Mich.
Parsons was a member of Saline United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Bruce Parsons Jr. of Montgomery, Ala., Robert Parsons of Cape Girardeau, John Parsons of Naperville, Ill.; three brothers, Glen Hamel of Mt. Pleasant, Herbert Hamel of St. Ignace, Mich., Elmer Hamel of Ann Arbor, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 1-2 p.m. Friday.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel. Drs. Clayton Smith and Mark Osgood will officiate. Burial will be later in Oakwood Cemetery in Saline.
