SCOTT CITY -- Ray Wendel Sr., 81, of Scott City died Monday, April 19, 1999, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Aug. 26, 1917, at Perkins, son of John and Ida Engels Wendel. He and Ada Juanita Schlosser were married Feb. 15, 1942, at Oran.
Wendel had been a brakeman with Cotton Belt Railroad. He was a member of the General Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Mike Wendel of Pine Bluff, Ark., Ken Wendel of Scott City; a daughter, Donna Wendel of Jackson; a brother, Dorsey Wendel of Ohio; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, two brothers, and three sisters.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City after 4 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Jere Gowin officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery.
