Funeral for Waldo E. "Matt" Allgood of Cape Girardeau will be held at 11 a.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill. The Rev. Fred Ritter will officiate. Burial will be in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill.
Friends may call at the funeral home until service time.
Allgood, 87, died Sunday, April 25, 1999, at Missouri Veterans Home.
He was born Aug. 4, 1911, at Lutesville, son of Grover and Julie Ann Abernathy Allgood. He and Wathena M. Abernathy were married June 28, 1941, at Jackson.
Allgood received a teaching certificate from Southeast Missouri State University.
He had been a teacher, principal and head basketball coach. He was co-owner of Wallis-Allgood Chevrolet in Marble Hill many years.
Allgood was a civic leader, member of Lutesville Presbyterian Church and taught Sunday School. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Jan Holshouser and Tana McLaird of Cape Girardeau, Marta Jones of Las Vegas, Nev.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
