CIRCLE CITY -- Vernon C. "Cliff" Jordan, 85, of Circle City died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999, at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff. He was born Jan. 1, 1914, at Dexter, son of Frank and Ida Mae Bond Jordan. He and Ruth Francis Harlow were married July 12, 1933. She died Sept. 1, 1987...

CIRCLE CITY -- Vernon C. "Cliff" Jordan, 85, of Circle City died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999, at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

He was born Jan. 1, 1914, at Dexter, son of Frank and Ida Mae Bond Jordan. He and Ruth Francis Harlow were married July 12, 1933. She died Sept. 1, 1987.

Jordan had lived at Circle City since 1942. He was a retired carpenter, and member of Clines Island General Baptist Church. He served with the U.S. Army in France during World War II.

Survivors include two sons, Carl Jordan of St. Louis; Steve Jordan of Nashville, Tenn.; a daughter, Rosilee Wilson of Dexter; a brother, Ted Jordan of DeSoto; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Ronnie Ledbetter will officiate. Burial will be in Chalk Bluff Cemetery near Dexter.
