BILL GUTHRIE

COBDEN, Ill. -- Roy G. "Bill" "Rock" Guthrie, 81, of Cobden died Sunday, July 25, 1999, at Jackson County Nursing Home in Murphysboro.

He was born Aug. 13, 1917, in Cobden, son of Frank and Eva Haley Guthrie. He and Ruth A. Darnell were married Oct. 1, 1940, at Charleston, Mo.

Guthrie was retired from the railroad. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Cobden Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Sue Greenwood and Kathy Cochran, both of Cobden; a son, Ronnie Guthrie of Cobden; a sister, Mary Payne of Dearborn, Mich.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Dewayne Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in Cobden Cemetery.
