BESSIE SHERRY

SIKESTON -- Bessie Gladys Sherry, 90, of Sikeston died Monday, May 31, 1999, at Sikeston Convalescent Center.

She was born July 15, 1908, in Van Buren, daughter of William Price and Annie Cates Daniels. She and John Ransom Sherry were married Dec. 31, 1926. He died Jan. 17, 1993.

Sherry had lived in the Sikeston area since 1936.

Survivors include three sons, Allen Sherry of Fayette, Gerald Sherry of Cambria, Ill., Ronald Sherry of Collinsville, Ill.; six daughters, Betty Smith of Carbondale, Ill., Mary Vangilder, Norma Maddox and Wanda Withers, all of Sikeston, Laura Young of Bonne Terre, and Peggy Whittom of Fairview Heights, Ill.

Also surviving are two sisters, Mary Campbell of St. Louis, Vinnie Hemmen of Fresno, Calif.; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother and a half brother.

Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the chapel. The Rev. Geneva Keith will officiate. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
