JACK D. WIDNER

Jack D. Widner of Cape Girardeau passed away on Saturday, June 12, 1999, at his home. He was born on February 24, 1930 in Manila, Ark., the son of Jesse Allen and Liddie Jane Brooks Widner. He married Lenora Winans on October, 17,1954 in Fresno, Ca. He grew up in Bell City and Sikeston. As a young man he farmed, then he went to work for National Motor Company. From there, he went to work for Dow Chemicals and retired from Ford Motor Company as an assembler.

Mr. Widner was a medic in the U.S. Army and a three Silver Star recipient for his service in Korea. He was a member of the VFW, National Rifle Association and National Society of Senior Citizens. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife Lenora; his sons, Jack Widner, Jr. of San Leandro, Calif., Joseph Widner of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; two sisters, Grace Hager of Jackson, Mo. and Cora Mae Fincher of Tampa, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Jesse Allen Widner of San Diego, Calif., Allen Franklin Widner of Las Vegas, Nev., Michael J. Cervantes of Cape Girardeau and Anthony C. Cervantes of Cape Girardeau.

Visitation will 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at Ford & Sons Mount Auburn Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 17, 1999 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, the Rev. Barry Pfanstiel officiating. Pallbearers include Max Widner, Jerry Widner, Jerry Griswell, Jesse Widner, Gary Widner and Joe Hager, Sr., Joe Hager, Jr., and Bill Hess. Burial will follow at Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau. Graveside service will be conducted by VFW Post 3838.
