JACKSON -- Mildred Rebecca Vandeven, 86, of Jackson died Thursday, May 6, 1999, at the home of a daughter near Jackson.
She was born June 23, 1912, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Frank and Nora Vangilder Heuschober. She first married Alvin G. Phillips Dec. 8, 1933, in Cape Girardeau. He died Dec. 14, 1986. She and George J. Vandeven were married in 1988. He died Nov. 23, 1994.
Vandeven was a graduate of Central High School and attended Southeast Missouri State University.
She taught at Brooks and Oak Grove Schools. She and her first husband operated a dairy farm west of Cape Girardeau many years.
Vandeven was a member of Hanover Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau, its Ladies Aid, taught Sunday School many years, and had been a 4-H leader. She was a member of Oak Grove Homemakers Club and Neighborhood Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Priebe of Riverside, Calif., Noretta Blattner of Jackson; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hanover Church, with the Rev. Jeffrey Sippy officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the church Saturday from noon until service time.
Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau is in charge of arrangements.
